In this talk, we approach the process of estimation from the perspective of psychology and psychometrics, looking at the concept of an estimate as a latent construct, and exploring the application of tools and techniques from psychology and psychological statistics to help us understand why and how people give the numbers they do when asked to estimate something.

Our speaker Joseph Pelrine is a psychologist and one of the world's most experienced experts on Agile. He has spent 25 years helping companies and research centers to implement novel applications of psychology to modern software development, processes and agile transformations. A respected coach, trainer, and manager, Joseph conducts research in novel applications of psychology to agile processes, and is also a PhD researcher in psychology and psycholinguistics.
