- Q&A
What is the RENEW-BOOSTER project?
Europe is undergoing a profound transformation of its energy system, with the need to accelerate the green and digital transition while at the same time strengthening energy security, industrial competitiveness, and strategic autonomy.
Renewable energy technologies — particularly photovoltaics, offshore wind energy, and energy networks — are at the heart of this transformation and are essential for achieving Europe's long-term climate and energy objectives.
As these sectors continue to expand, they also face a range of challenges, including increasingly complex value chains, dependence on critical raw materials, the need for technological and digital innovation, and growing demand for new skills and expertise.
The RENEW-BOOSTER project addresses these challenges by supporting the development, industrialisation and market uptake of innovative solutions across European renewable energy value chains.
Targeted support for SMEs
Through the second call, RENEW-BOOSTER offers SMEs the opportunity to develop and advance innovative solutions that can contribute to a more resilient, competitive and sustainable European energy ecosystem.
The call is structured around two complementary strands. The Challenge-driven Strand focuses on predefined industrial challenges, while the Open Call Strand allows SMEs to propose innovative solutions based on their own ideas and market needs.
Selected SMEs will have the opportunity to strengthen their innovation capacity, further develop their solutions and move closer to market deployment. The programme also encourages collaboration across European borders and supports stronger connections between SMEs and the wider renewable energy ecosystem.
RENEW-BOOSTER aims to help SMEs:
- develop and validate innovative technologies, products and services;
- strengthen their position within European renewable energy value chains;
- accelerate the development and market uptake of innovative solutions;
- establish new international partnerships and business opportunities;
- enhance their competitiveness and resilience;
- contribute to Europe's green and digital transition.
At the core of the project is the RENEW-BOOSTER Accelerator, which provides tailored support to SMEs to help them identify opportunities, develop solutions and strengthen their role in the renewable energy value chain.
By bringing together businesses, research and knowledge institutions, public authorities and other stakeholders, RENEW-BOOSTER promotes cross-sector and transnational cooperation and contributes to a stronger, more innovative and sustainable European energy ecosystem.
The RENEW-BOOSTER project has received funding from the Single Market Programme under Grant Agreement 101234706 — RENEW-BOOSTER — SMP-COSME-2024-CLUSTER .
