Chagall - guided tour
"I'm not a fan of his roosters, donkeys, flying fiddlers and all that folklore, but his canvases are really painted, not just thrown together. Some of the last things he did in Vence make me believe that since Renoir "There was no one in the world who had such a sense of light as Chagall."
Pablo Picasso
In the quoted quote we can read the essence of the reception of Chagall's work. The characters and motifs in his paintings often evoke extreme emotions, not necessarily positive ones. However, the greatest experts and colleagues admit that he had an incredible understanding of color, light, and even that he introduced metaphor to European painting. As if between the rigid rules of figurative academicism and the anarchic freedom of abstraction, Chagall created his own niche and style.
Moreover, he did not deny his childhood in the Vitebsk stetl. Ultimately, he would make a career in Paris in the early 20th century, hanging out in cafés with the queen of Art Deco - Tamara Łempicka. However, unlike the Pole, Chagall never hid his Jewish and poor origins. And he had a Hollywood career comparable to that of Helena Rubinstein.
From a painter who ate half a fish a day out of savings and painted naked so as not to dirty his clothes, to a fulfilled artist whose most expensive painting was sold for PLN 120 million.
The exhibition will feature 110 prints, hand-colored by Marc Chagall, skillfully selected from a Polish private collection and tastefully assembled by curator Dagmara Giej-Rusnak. Everything was served in the suggestive industrial space of the former civic brewery, along with animations created for this exhibition. However, we can expect additional aesthetic and artistic surprises at the exhibition itself.
The tour will be led personally by its author: Paweł Mrozowicz. With 17 years of experience, the only crazy guide who travels around Poland regularly visits numerous exhibitions and shows around the exhibitions of the art he is most passionate about. So far, he has guided tours of three different legendary exhibitions by Łempicka (Lublin, Konstancin and Kraków), four exhibitions by Beksiński (Kraków, Warsaw, Sanok and Tychy), and regularly guides his own tour about Leonardo's Lady in the Princes Czartoryski museum, and a street art tour around city. In addition, about 30 other thematic trips.
The exhibition "Chagall - the poetry of the blue soul" is an original project of the Tichauer Art Gallery team. In such a unique shape, it will no longer be available anywhere else and will only last until June 9️⃣.
See you at the exhibition,
