Community Learning Center - education in the local community

Course Objective: This training aims to introduce participants to the concept of community centers as hubs for social integration, education, and civic participation. It will equip participants with practical strategies for designing and managing community-driven initiatives that address local needs and foster sustainable development.

During the training, participants will:

• Learn the foundational principles of community center management through workshops.
• Explore strategies for engaging diverse groups and promoting inclusivity.
• Participate in study visits to Neighborhood Houses in Gdańsk to observe real-world examples of successful community initiatives.
• Collaborate on designing actionable plans for implementing or enhancing community centers in their own contexts.

Tentative Schedule

Day 1: Introduction to Community Centers Model

• Welcome session: agenda, expectations, icebreaker activities.
• Workshop: Principles of community center management and engagement.
• Group activity: Identifying challenges and opportunities in participants' contexts.

Day 2: Study Visits to Neighborhood Houses in Gdańsk

• Visit one or more Neighborhood Houses in Gdańsk (specific locations TBD).
• Guided tours of facilities and observation of ongoing activities (e.g., workshops, cultural events).
• Discussions with practitioners about operational challenges, successes, and lessons learned.

Day 3: Designing Community Center Models for Local Impact

• Workshop: Developing actionable plans inspired by insights from study visits.
• Group presentations of project ideas with peer feedback.
• Closing session: Evaluation, feedback, awarding certificates of participation.

• Study visits will include guided tours and discussions with practitioners at Neighborhood Houses in Gdańsk. Specific locations will be confirmed closer to the training date.
• The schedule may be adjusted based on participant needs or trainer discretion.

This three-day training combines theoretical learning with practical experiences through study visits to Gdańsk's innovative Model of Neighborhood Houses. Participants will leave empowered to create or enhance community centers that foster social integration and civic engagement within their own neighborhoods!
