Dotnetos Conference 2019 - bilety

Two-day conference focused on .NET performance! Both international and Polish speakers (all sessions in English). Chance to meet well-known people from .NET performance area in person. Great food and beverages. Last but not least, great networking opportunity!

When more details will be published?

Full agenda will be published around mid-August. There will be guests from abroad, as well as well-known Polish speakers.

How will the meeting look?

This is a two day conference with around one-hour talks. Of course, there will be time for breaks with some nice food and beverages, including dinner. Then less official part comes in the evening to have conversations in more relaxed atmosphere!

What will be presented there?

Detailed agenda is to come. But be prepared for low-level, yet still practical knowledge about JIT, Garbage Collection, memory usage, unsafe code, benchmarking, and so on, and so forth.

In what language will the talks be given?

All talks, including those from Polish speakers, will be given in English. This is by design international conference!

Who we are?

Dotnetos is an initiative of three .NET fans. We love this technology and we love performance. We love to get deep into how it works. And we love to share the knowledge we gain. We organize tours, conferences (both public and on-site) and trainings. Contact us if you or your company are interested!

As developers, we spend a lot of time inside our IDEs. But are we treating it like a fancy text editor? This half day workshop will show you how good tooling can reduce the pain points of coding, and by the end of the session, you'll have learnt how Rider, JetBrains' standalone, cross platform .NET IDE, can help you effortlessly navigate your code, help you read and learn your codebase better, and write code faster and cleaner than ever before. We'll also see what the "I" in IDE stands for, and see how essential tooling such as version control and database management is seamlessly integrated. It's time to invest in your tools.

Agenda:
Introduction to Rider Super charge your editing - navigation, editing, inspections and refactorings
Running and debugging Unit testing, including code coverage and continuous testing
Version control with Rider, including GitHub integration Working with databases
* Round up and attendee suggestions

Target audience:
C# developers with a working knowledge of building .NET applications.

Requirements:
Computer/laptop, Windows, Mac or Linux is fine. Ideally pre-installed with Rider 2019.1, but I'll have a USB stick with install software if needed.
Workshop - Oct 9 - Matt Ellis - Level up your coding with JetBrains Rider

.NET Core performance profiling in Nethermind Ethereum real-world examples

Piotr Gankiewicz and Tomasz Stanczak from Nethermind will go over many real-world optimization examples used in Nethermind. Participants will use multiple profiling tools to analyse many .NET Core tools and concepts - Span, stackalloc, multithtreading, SIMD, hardware intrinsics, Bloom filters and others.

Workshop is targeted at senior C# developers or junior developers with a strong interest in performance optimizations. We expect users to be very familiar with .NET IDEs and debugging.

Participants will learn about various optimizations techniques and learn to analyse the results using Benchmark.NET for micro-benchmarking and CPU and memory profilers for tracking application-wide performance results.

All participants must bring laptops with MacOS or Windows installed with PerfView, dotmemory (trial), and Visual Studio Community (performance profiler), and dotTrace (trial) installed.

All participants should clone and build the Nethermind project from https://nethermind.readthedocs.io/en/latest/build.html.

Using CPU intrinsics in C#

We'll spend a few hours taking computational scalar code and rewriting it with CoreCLR intrinsics in C#,
In the process, we'll learn about how CoreCLR exposes previously untapped processor functionality for C# developers,
How to write intrinsics based code, patterns for testing it and bench-marking.

We will also talk about CPU pipelines, branch prediction and code efficiency, as all of those topics go hand in hand with CPU intrinsics.

During this workshop, we will take existing computational code which is already implemented in C# as normal scalar code, and re-write it
using AVX/AVX2 CPU intrinsics that will outperform our baseline scalar version and hopefully see large (order of magnitude) speedups compared to the already optimized scalar code"
